Overview
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a COTS Automation Engineer to support a major national laboratory.
The successful candidate be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining a suite of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications and tools across multiple production environments supporting the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). You will research emerging technologies, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain automation scripts and tooling to enhance deployments within enterprise and cloud architectures.
Work is performed onsite so candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area.
Responsibilities
- Bring expertise in COTS application deployment, configuration, customization, and support to the team.
- Participate as a developer on this Agile Scrum team.
- Work collaboratively and efficiently with the team to deliver rapid, secure, and scalable solutions that support critical national security missions.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain COTS applications and tools across multiple production environments supporting NSE operations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling to streamline deployment, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime and impact on mission-critical systems.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations in software deployment and management.
- Participate in Scrum events such as daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective.
- Communicate with other system administrators and stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
- Support cloud and enterprise architecture deployments, ensuring alignment with security policies and operational requirements.
- Provide high-touch user support related to COTS applications and tools and serve in any migration efforts as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software support processes and automation capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree along with 3 years or more of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Windows and Linux system administration.
- Familiarity and ability to build expertise with automation tools like Ansible.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Willing to be on-site 3 days a week to meet mission deliverables and service level agreement requirements.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience supporting software systems within national security or government environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Cameo MagicDraw, GENESYS, DOORS Next.
- Experience with COTS applications and their administration and deployment across various environments.
- Knowledge of OpenShift deployment or cloud technologies.
- Prior knowledge of Agile project management tools, such as Jira.
