Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations, ensure patient comfort, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient care. Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Manage patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Provide patient education on oral health care and post-treatment instructions
- Maintain infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures
- Assist with medical imaging and document procedures using appropriate medical terminology and coding
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and handling patient inquiries as a dental receptionist when needed
- Ensure the clinic environment adheres to infection control standards and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with dental clinic operations highly preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and records management is advantageous
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, general dentistry procedures, and medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Certification in radiography or X-ray training required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or specific specialties are a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
