What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Technician position at Edgerton?
Job Description:
As a field service mechanic for Edgerton Contractors, you'll have the opportunity to work on quality equipment with a great team of co-workers. You'll troubleshoot and repair small gas engines, all sizes of diesel engines, plate compactors, generators, trucks, trailers, rollers, skid steer loaders, wheel loaders, bulldozers, excavators, off-road haul trucks, and more. The technician must coordinate with the Shop Supervisor, the Site Supervisor and site crew members to obtain task goals with Safety, Quality, and Efficiently.
* Hiring for both Oak Creek and Verona, WI locations *
Specific Qualifications:
- Proven track record of consistent safe work practices
- Has completed safety training per Edgerton training curriculum
- Ability to take direction and work together as a crew
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Read and utilize hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Have knowledge in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines
- Be competent in the use of Caterpillar ET and SIS Web
- Have ability to safely use overhead cranes for completing repairs
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Be a Journeyman Operating Engineer or be willing to become one
- Responsible for good communication
- Strong attention to detail is required
- Have basic tools required for repairing equipment. Edgerton supplies special required tools, laptop, and ¾ inch drive and larger sockets and impacts.
