We are seeking an Air Quality Engineer to join our Austin or Houston team. This role is ideal for an engineer with 5 years of experience who is ready to work more independently, mentor junior staff, and oversee project tasks while still being supported by senior project managers. You’ll contribute technical expertise, coordinate task execution, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and with high quality.

At EDGE, our vision is to become a leader and innovator in the environmental consulting industry. In order to achieve that goal, we need ambitious leaders, out-of-the box thinkers and life-long learners on our team. To attract and retain these bright individuals, we offer meaningful, challenging work, competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package. Perhaps most importantly, we foster an internal culture full of energy and camaraderie in which our employees have the freedom and support to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee technical tasks such as emissions calculations, air permit applications, and compliance reporting.
  • Independently manage portions of larger projects, including task assignments, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff in the delivery of project tasks, reviewing work and providing feedback.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact for assigned tasks while keeping project managers informed.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local air quality regulations (Texas experience preferred).
  • Contribute to proposal development and project scoping as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
  • 5 years of relevant air quality consulting experience.
  • Strong understanding of air permitting, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage tasks, and supervise the work of others.
  • Excellent communication skills — both for technical writing and client interaction.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

EDGE strives to hire and retain the best and brightest candidates available in the marketplace. To be selected for this position, the candidate must possess the interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills necessary for positive internal, client, and contractor relationships. Solid technical writing skills and problem-solving abilities are a must. The candidate must demonstrate a passion for environmental consulting, technical excellence and quality, and a commitment to lifelong learning and growth.
