What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Law Attorney - Multiple Openings position at Edens Law Group, LLC?
Edens Law Group is an established boutique family law firm serving Northern and Central New Jersey from Chester since 1994. We are adding experienced family law attorneys as our firm plans for both near-term growth and long-term succession. This is an opportunity to do sophisticated family law work in a client-centered practice while choosing the career path that fits your goals: build a strong long-term associate career, or grow toward leadership, partnership, and potential future ownership.
Why This Role Is Different
· Two career paths, one strong platform: experienced associate growth or a defined leadership/succession track.
· Meaningful autonomy over your caseload with experienced attorneys and support staff around you.
· A family-law-only environment where the work is substantive: divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution, domestic violence, post-judgment matters, mediation, and related matrimonial issues.
· Direct access to firm leadership and an opportunity to help shape systems, client experience, team development, and future growth.
· For the right candidate, a transparent path to partnership and potential future ownership as the firm executes its succession plan.
What You’ll Do
· Manage a portfolio of New Jersey family law matters from strategy and discovery through negotiation, motion practice, settlement, trial, and post-judgment work.
· Advise clients with a combination of empathy, decisiveness, and clear expectations during high-stakes personal and financial transitions.
· Draft and review pleadings, certifications, motions, briefs, discovery, Case Information Statements, settlement agreements, and related filings.
· Appear regularly in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Morris County and surrounding vicinages.
· Work collaboratively with paralegals and attorneys; delegate effectively and maintain strong case communication and deadline discipline.
· Contribute to continuous improvement, mentoring, business development, community presence, and firm growth based on your experience and career goals.
What We’re Looking For
· Active New Jersey Bar membership in good standing.
· 3 years of meaningful New Jersey matrimonial/family law experience; candidates with deeper experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
· Ability to independently manage cases and make sound strategic decisions while knowing when collaboration improves the outcome.
· Strong courtroom, negotiation, legal writing, and client counseling skills.
· High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, responsiveness, and the ability to stay composed in high-conflict matters.
· For the leadership/ownership track: genuine interest in people leadership, business development, financial literacy, and eventually helping lead or own a law practice.
