What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel / Veterinary Assistant position at Eden Veterinary Hospital?
Eden Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Kennel / Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Eden, NC. Your time will be split between the kennel and assisting the veterinarian.
Job Description:
- Restrain patients in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner
- Properly handle difficult or contentious animals in a kind and safe manner
- Perform routine suture removals, nail trims, and weight checks
- Surgical prepping
- Anesthesia machine operation & monitoring patients during surgery/dentals
- Accurately dispense prescription medications as directed by veterinarian
- Dental prophy
- IV catheter placement
- Jugular/cephalic blood draw
- Collecting samples and running laboratory testing (U/A, fecals, cytologies, etc.)
- Radiography
- Verbal communication
- Following standards and procedures
- Clean and straighten treatment and lab areas and restock with supplies as needed
- Assist team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean
- Clean and maintain all medical equipment as required
- Demonstrate initiative and teamwork in everyday duties
- Kennel duties include walking dogs, bathing pets, keeping kennel clean and laundry washed
Experience: Previous experience as a veterinary assistant preferred but not required.

Experience:
- Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
