Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CAD/CAM Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating designs, developing wireframe models, reverse engineering parts, and programming robots for finishing castings. This role requires expertise in SolidWorks, NX, and scanning technologies, as well as machining and CNC operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Create detailed designs and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and NX.
- Develop wireframe models and 3D representations of parts and assemblies.
- Utilize scanning technologies to reverse engineer parts and generate accurate drawings from scans.
- Create detailed technical documentation and drawings based on scanned data.
- Program robots using Robot Studio software for finishing castings from foundry processes.
- Develop programs manually and from scans and drawings created.
- Operate CNC machines to create parts from drawings.
- Perform machining tasks to create casting patterns in the pattern shop.
- Use Mastercam for CNC programming.
- Employ scanning software for precise measurements and modeling.
- Utilize rapid prototyping technologies to develop and test designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met.

- CAD drawings: Controlling and creating prints for fixturing, tooling, QC, plant layouts.

- Ensure new products are being produced in a timely manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job mainly operates in an office setting, however, working in the Foundry is expected. Routine use of standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires prolonged computer use as well as Foundry support. Employee is exposed to Foundry atmospheric conditions such as fumes or airborne particles, noise, extreme weather, vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Note, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering the plant to include ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Disposable masks are optional.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; walk; stoop; bend; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, and crouch. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL Little to no travel is expected for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Technical training or experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering and 7-10 years of automotive experience or in a related field.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with an aluminum casting and machining field.

- Bachelor’s degree or other equivalent technical training to meet expectations.
