Position Summary
The Survey CAAD Technician supports both field and office survey operations. This role involves preparing a variety of survey documents, including Boundary, Topographic, ALTA/NSPS, Subdivision Plats, As-builts, and Legal Descriptions, while also assisting with fieldwork as needed.
The position requires strong proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD, the ability to interpret survey data, and a detail-oriented approach to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Surveying and the survey team to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards while helping maintain efficient workflows and identifying potential issues during project development.
Typical duties include:
- Prepare survey documents such as: Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Subdivision Plats, As-built Surveys and Legal Description Sketches
- Maintain digital files associated with projects
- Collaborate with eda’s survey team to produce high-quality survey documents and maps
- Coordinate with Director of Surveying regarding schedules and priorities
- Adhere to CADD standards to ensure a uniform product
- Actively search for and flag potential issues and problems discovered while processing & drafting
- Perform the field work associated with Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Tree Surveys, and Construction Stakeout as required to meet project schedules
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Surveying to ensure maintenance and repair of survey vehicles, survey equipment and survey instruments
- Positively contribute to the survey department’s and eda’s quality standards, project budgets and project timelines
Qualifications
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD software
- Experience in land surveying
- Be able to read and understand surveys
- Familiar with and able to use survey equipment such as total stations and data collectors
- Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal direction
- Time conscious, able to work with deadlines
- Able to adapt to changing priorities
- Out-of-town work is infrequent, but is possible with this position
- Must be able to work well with others as part of a team
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Must be able to endure the physical labor associated with field work
- Be physically capable of walking long distances and able to handle heavy objects, such as manhole lids
Desired Skills
- Experience with Leica Total Stations & GPS
- Ability to properly identify trees in North Central Florida
- Experience processing LiDAR data (either drone or terrestrial based)

Work Schedule:
