Career Coach (Contract)

Job Purpose

The Career Coach is responsible for providing comprehensive career development support and guidance to learners within the Ed Farm Pathways to Tech Program. This contractor role involves staying abreast of current workforce trends, updating relevant career development materials, and equipping learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful employment. The Career Coach will work closely with learners to define their career goals, develop strategic career plans, understand evolving hiring practices, conduct individual coaching sessions, and track their progress to ensure they achieve optimal employability outcomes upon program completion. For learners interested in technology careers, the coach will maintain relevant knowledge of the tech industry, including in-demand skills, emerging roles, and hiring practices.

• Provide individualized career coaching to learners, helping them identify their strengths, set realistic and achievable career goals, and develop personalized action plans.
• Conduct one-on-one sessions to support learners in exploring career options, preparing application materials, and practicing essential job search skills (e.g., resume writing, interviewing).
• Design, review, and update all career development materials, tools, and resources to ensure relevance and alignment with current market and industry standards.
• Develop new, engaging content and workshops addressing specific challenges and opportunities within diverse job markets, including the tech sector.
• Facilitate workshops and connect learners with relevant industry-specific resources to significantly enhance their overall employability across multiple sectors.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of contemporary hiring practices and the impact of technological advancements (like AI) on recruitment and required skills.
• Build and maintain relationships with potential employers and industry partners to understand hiring needs and identify career opportunities for learners.
• Track and report on individual learner progress toward career goals and employability milestones to inform program effectiveness and improvements.
  
  

Required Skills, Behavior, Or Knowledge

• Proven experience in providing effective career coaching, guidance, and support.
• Strong understanding of various industries and career paths, including current trends, in-demand skills, recruitment strategies, assessment methods, and employer expectations
• Familiarity with online career resources, job boards, and professional networking platforms.
• Ability to develop and update relevant career development materials and resources.
• Skill in guiding individuals to set realistic goals and create actionable career plans.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and experiential backgrounds.
• Awareness of cultural nuances and commitment to inclusive practices in coaching and guidance.
