Title: Regional Sales Manager
Job Summary
As a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) you will lead a sales team in a designated territory in ECU Worldwide USA. As a sales leader, you will be accountable for creating and executing strategies that drive continuous growth in both volume and profitability, achieving the goals set for you and your team.
This position provides direction and leadership to the corresponding Regional Sales staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops and maintains an effective sales team through the selection, training, onboarding, motivation, termination and review of direct staff.
• Provides guidance and direction to sales personnel to assist them in their professional development.
• Develops, implements and analyzes sales programs, and makes necessary adjustments as required.
• Establishes and implements sales goals within management guidelines.
• Reviews the general business climate and adjusts staffing and materials as needed.
• Understands and supports established sales policies and procedures to ensure sales personnel provide proper and effective treatment to customers.
• Applies knowledge of company products and services to assist sales team with providing quality customer service.
• Reviews and approves expenses requested by sales team.
• Reviews and resolves customer complaints in a professional and timely manner as directed and/or required.
• Establishes, develops and monitors internal sales organization.
• Represents company at trade organizations as required.
• Travels to customer locations to complete sales calls as required.
• Oversees sales and marketing efforts as well as directly participates in selling our services.
• Implements commission structures for each sales team member.
• Reviews sales team (quarterly, bi-annually as required).
• Leads biweekly sales meetings.
• Provides general administration as required.
• Encourages quality and efficiency by constantly training, motivating and coaching team.
• Has overall responsibility for interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees.
• Assigns and directs team’s work; conducts performance appraisals, provides appropriate reward and recognition and disciplinary measures.
• Works with HR, to ensure compliance with effective employee management including managing performance management documentation and process, i.e. disciplinary actions, terminations.
• Supervises, trains and develops team members in line with the ECU objectives, policies and procedures. Completes supervisory responsibilities in a timely and thorough manner.
• Maintains discretion and confidentiality of relevant team and management matters.
Qualifications/Competencies/Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales & Marketing, Logistics or relevant field of study is Strongly preferred, and five (5) years of Sales Leadership experience within International Cargo Transportation Industry; OR, Associates Degree in above mentioned fields of study supported by five (5) years of Sales and Leadership experience.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation and benefits administration, preferably of a sales staff.
• Proven leadership skills required, including managing remote team members.
• Proven skills and experience in business and financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organization.
• Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a team of professionals.
• Effective problem solving and mediation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office environment.
• Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations.
• Working knowledge of international transportation industry - 10 years minimum - required.
• Demonstrated record of achievement in a prior sales position.
• Computer savvy with working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications especially Excel.
