Position Summary
The Central Services Technician participates in collection, decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, wrapping, scanning, sterilizing, storage and distribution of reusable equipment and supplies. Works collaboratively with all departments to ensure efficient, safe and effective equipment and supply reprocessing. Models excellence in customer service, ensuring the highest standards for both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring all equipment and supplies are collected, cleaned, decontaminated, and assembled according to manufacturing guidelines.
Delivers equipment which includes but is not limited to: Adult Event Carts (Crashcarts) and Restocking Supplies; Pediatric Event Carts (PAL Carts) and Restocking Supplies; Newborn Crashcarts and restocking supplies, Alaris PCU pumps, Alaris LVP module, Compression Devices (SCD), PCA's Pumps, Epidural Pumps, Syringe LVP Module, Feeding Pumps, Papr Hepa Air-Mate , Stryker Pressure Monitor Kit, Hypo/Hyper Unit (K-thermia), Siderail Pads (Seizure Pads), Epistaxis Box (Nose Bleed Box),Peritonsillar Box, Larynoscope Handle & Blades, Wound VACs, Walkers (Rolling & Standard), Bedside Commodes (Regular, Drop Arm and Bariatric), Isolation Carts, Foot Pumps, Pulse Oximeters, Fiber Optic Light Source, Gomco Portable Suction (Electrical and Battery Power), Patient Locking Restraints Boxes, Orthopedic Cast Carts, Sand Bags (5lb & 10lbs) and Urinary Monitors.
Follows established manufacture INSTRUCTION FOR USE (IFU) when processing equipment and supplies. Alerts supervisor if IFU's are needed.
Monitors and maintains adequate levels of inventory.
Answers telephone, takes messages and fills equipment requests.
Verifies delivery, initiates patient charge and files delivery document in appropriate slot.
Delivers trays, instruments and carts to area such as, X-ray, L&D, NBN and ED.
Demonstrates proficiency with preparing crash carts with appropriate instruments and supplies per specific department needs.
Maintains a clean organized work area within the department, adhering to OSHA standards.
Participates in departmental policies/procedures development, quality improvement projects, infection control practices, OSHA standards and MSDS awareness within the department.
Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills with all internal and external customers.
Completes all department required competencies including orientation and annual requirements.
Participates in department continued education to foster an environment of proficiency in central services.
Assigns priority to emergency requisitions
Verifies crash cart logs and paperwork for equipment when issued or retrieved from units.
Serves as department preceptor for training and orientation.
Responsible for running RTL reports to identify and coordinate pick up of equipment.
Sets up traction for patients and maintains traction room.
Maintains inventory of traction equipment and patient assist equipment issued through the department for patient use.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Two Years Of Central Services Technician Experience Required.
Certified through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) as: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is preferred
Pay Range
$ $24.26
