Position Summary:

As a key member of the Accounting team, the Accounting Manager will be responsible over all accounting activities for our eCu Global Recycling business unit. The Accounting Manager will deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, review and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with current laws/company procedures, prepare budgets, monitor the performance/liquidity/risks of assigned business unit, and analyze and report financial results to key stakeholders within the company. This position will be based in our Canton, Michigan office and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

o  Monthly Financials - Ownership of the month-end close and reporting cycle of eCu Global, including:

o Execute accurate general ledger entries in accounting software, payment processing and recording financial transactions while adhering to internal controls

o  Manage debtors and creditors ledger and dealing with any queries regarding payments or receipts

o  Manage fixed assets (including depreciation, impairments, abatements, etc.)

o  Month-end adjustments such as amortizations, accruals, prepayments, taxes

o Perform the Company’s billing, remittance and collection responsibilities, including arrangement for payments of invoices

o  GL maintenance

  • Prepare and review of month-end balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy across all accounts, such as:

o  Bank and cash accounts

o  Debtors and creditors

o  Accruals and prepayments

o  Other payables and receivables (e.g. sales tax payable, deferred tax)

o  Leases

o  Fixed assets

o  Debt liabilities

o  Other accounts

  • Analyze financial performance and provide explanation behind financial results along with insights into variation in financial trends

o  Effectively communicate and partner with other departments to ensure financial information is accurately captured and reported

  • Support performance monitoring by developing and analyzing key financial KPIs, variance and trend analysis, cost analysis, and profitability metrics
  • Prepare board reports quarterly and annually
  • Maintain accounting system – posting entries and ensuring timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Lead the development of any annual and periodic budget, forecasting including cash flow and associated financial analysis activities
  • Act as the primary finance contact for internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors and banks. This includes:

o  Coordinating and supporting the year-end audit process, including the preparation of annual financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with GAAP

o  Preparing and reviewing information required by tax advisors for timely and accurate filing of Sales Tax, Corporate Tax, and other statutory returns 

  • Ensure understanding and compliance with statutory obligations, financial reporting standards, management agreements and internal policies, proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including A/P and A/R.
  • Drive continuous process improvement to ensure that all reporting is conducted efficiently and to the highest standard
  • Ad hoc tasks and reporting to support senior management requirements, as necessary as well as assisting department heads with day-to-day finance management of the business
  • Ensure adherence to loan lender's requirements and covenants, including timely reporting and proactive communication
  • Efficiently reconcile and manage employee expense submissions, ensuring adherence to company policies and timely reimbursement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Accounting experience (including general and cost accounting with responsibility for Financial reporting, P&L management, and Balance Sheet management)
  • Experience dealing with Auditors and managing the annual Audit process
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting
  • GL system experience, preferably Sage MAS200
  • Adept at creating budgets from the ground up and effectively managing to established budget
  • Exceptional financial acumen and analytical skills with high degree of attention to detail
  • Possesses strong written & verbal communications with all levels of management, and organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritization abilities with streamlining/simplification mindset, and strong project management skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Proven track record of effectively partnering with cross-functional team members at all levels, translating data into useful information about the business, and influencing strategic initiatives to drive operational/financial results
  • Strong ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external stakeholders (customers, vendors, bankers) along with the ability to work collaboratively with staff/colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel
  • Strong desire to learn, develop, and expand professional skills for future leadership opportunities within Accounting function
  • Ability to travel occasionally (10-15%) to out-of-state locations
