What are the responsibilities and job description for the Managing Librarian - Southwest History & Genealogy position at Ector County Library?
The Ector County Library is in need of a f/t Managing Librarian to oversee the Southwest History and Genealogy Department, who will be under the supervision of the Library Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES: This role oversees the Southwest History and Genealogy collections and services, including developing, organizing, and preserving specialized materials related to regional history and family research. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing reference and research assistance, guiding patrons through genealogy tools and historical resources, and delivering library instruction sessions or workshops. The managing librarian also supervises staff in the adjacent Passports department (supervising 3 FT staff), coordinates programs and outreach related to local history and genealogy, and collaborates with other library units and community organizations. (Bilingual skills/Spanish speaker is a plus) Additional duties include maintaining accurate records, planning collection growth, ensuring a welcoming research environment, and contributing to overall library initiatives and community engagement. Collection development duties include reviewing, selecting, ordering, and deselecting supplies and equipment for the department. Performs notary services and assists with faxing and scanning documents. This person is a department head and part of the library's leadership group.
SALARY: $52,000-$56,284 per year (dependent on experience) plus excellent benefits; work days & hours; Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays; 9am-6pm and 10am-7pm

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in library science, information studies, or a related field from an ALA-accredited program is required, or an upcoming graduate. Prior library experience preferred. Successful applicant will be required to provide a background check.
