The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. - Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Responsible for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
- Accounting Operations:
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Responsible for timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Oversee financial systems, such as Dynamics, Ex-Flow, etc.
- Treasury Management:
- Work with banks and financial institutions on lines of credit, debt financing, and banking relationships.
- Ensure that all bank accounts are monitored and reconciled on a daily basis.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Develop and enforce strong internal control policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and payroll taxes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Direct the team in internal and external audits, ensuring that necessary documentation and responses are handled timely.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of accounting software systems.
- Streamline accounting operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage, coach, and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support career growth within the team.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Technical Accounting:
- Handle complex accounting issues and provide technical guidance.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and practices.
- Preparation of technical accounting memos and documentation.
- Strategic Support:
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Lead or participate in strategic projects and initiatives as needed.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience including 5 years in a managerial role.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). CPA, CMA, CIA certifications considered a plus.
- If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience and knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics a plus
- Prior experience in the implementation of a new accounting software required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
