What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Liner Inspector position at ECS Group of Companies?
We are seeking a Certified Liner Inspector to join our team to support field inspection and quality assurance for geomembrane liner installations throughout Alabama. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all liner systems are installed according to design specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. This role requires travel to job sites across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual and instrument-based inspections of geomembrane liner installations at construction and remediation sites.
- Monitor and document the liner deployment, seaming, testing, and anchoring processes.
- Verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements.
- Use nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques (e.g., air pressure tests, vacuum box tests) to inspect seam quality.
- Maintain daily logs, photographs, inspection forms, and quality control records.
- Collaborate with construction crews, project managers, and third-party contractors to ensure successful liner installation.
- Report any deficiencies or non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards at job sites.
Qualifications
- Certified Liner Inspector credential from a recognized authority such as the Geosynthetic Institute (GCI).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in geomembrane liner installation or inspection.
- Familiarity with various geomembrane materials (HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in field conditions.
- Willingness to travel throughout Alabama and work in outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10/30-hour certification.
- Experience working with landfill or containment facility construction.
- Knowledge of Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) regulations related to liners.
