Responsibilities

ECS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Building Enclosure Department Manager to join our Florida Building Science Infrastructure team in Orlando, FL. In this role, you'll lead projects involving inspections, testing, assessments, and commissioning of building envelopes for existing structures. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients. What You'll Do

Leadership & Practice Growth

  • Lead and grow a department focused on Building Enclosure services
  • Drive strategic business development initiatives and expand ECS's presence within the local market
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with REITs, developers, property managers, insurance companies, banks, contractors, and design professionals
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of engineers, architects, inspectors, and technical staff
  • Manage departmental operations, staffing, utilization, and financial performance, including P&L responsibility

Technical & Project Oversight

  • Oversee projects involving:
      • Building envelope and enclosure evaluations
      • Roof and waterproofing assessments
      • Moisture and water intrusion investigations
      • Property condition assessments (PCA)
      • Forensic investigations and failure analysis
      • Structural evaluations and related design work
      • Code compliance inspections and plan review services
    • Review technical reports, proposals, scopes, and deliverables to ensure quality and consistency
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and clients
    • Support project management efforts including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or a related field
  • 8 years of related experience with building enclosure consulting, including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments
  • Licensed or certified in at least one of the following preferred but not required:
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
    • Registered Architect (R.A.)
    • IIBEC certifications (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, CBECxP)
    • University of Wisconsin-Madison certifications (BECxP, CxA BE)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds multiple times per day, stand for extended periods, walk on uneven terrain, and perform work at heights.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
