We're standing up a brand-new site to support a newly awarded county contract, and we're looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join the team from the ground up. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on tractor and trailer equipment, complete work orders with proper coding such as reason for repair, condition, cause, and correction, and manage the warranty process from start to finish. Safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical, and the ideal candidate is energized by the chance to help launch a brand-new shop rather than join one that's already up and running.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fleet equipment safely and correctly.
- Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly.
- Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions.
- Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment and takes steps to solve issue if possible.
- Correctly completes complex work orders with proper description of condition, cause and correction, including properly completing a warranty return tag as needed.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Complies with company policies, procedures and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Performed additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state issued CDL driver's license preferred
- Experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with specialty in Diesel.
- Experience in advanced diagnostics.
