Position Summary
As a Lab Pack Chemist, you will be responsible for the safe identification, classification, packaging, and documentation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at customer sites. This role supports compliant waste handling, transportation, and disposal while maintaining strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations. You will work both independently and alongside field teams to deliver efficient, high-quality service while representing Ecotech with professionalism. A Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement is required.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Field Execution
- Identify, inventory, segregate, and properly package hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with company procedures and regulations.
- Perform onsite services including waste collection, consolidation, sampling, and site inspections.
- Prepare waste for shipment by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading materials for transport.
- Accurately complete required documentation, including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), waste profiles, and certifications.
- Support transportation and disposal activities, including operating company vehicles as required.
- Maintain organization of materials, supplies, and equipment during field operations.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks while supporting overall operational efficiency and customer service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, overtime, and emergency response.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable environmental, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain accountability for personal safety and contribute to a safe environment for employees, customers, and the public.
- Follow Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and site-specific safety plans for all field activities.
- Ensure all hazardous waste handling, packaging, and transportation activities remain compliant with regulatory requirements.
Leadership, Communication & Administration
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and management.
- Maintain professionalism and represent the company positively in all interactions.
- Work independently while collaborating with field teams and leadership to meet operational needs.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience & Certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of lab pack or hazardous waste handling experience.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher required.
- Valid Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement (Class A preferred) or willingness to obtain.
- Valid Drivers License required.
Technical & Safety Competence
- Knowledge of hazardous waste identification, segregation, packaging, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to accurately complete regulatory documentation and shipping paperwork.
- Basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, and operational tracking.
- Ability to safely handle materials, tools, and equipment in field environments.

- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, as necessary.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and field environments for extended periods.
