Job Summary: The Production Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery essential to plant operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, experience with industrial machinery, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, determining necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to established schedules to minimize downtime.
- Replace or repair worn or defective parts, including bearings, seals, gears, and other components.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to enhance equipment functionality and resolve mechanical issues.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, following all protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests to address equipment failures and restore production.
Qualifications:
- Technical or vocational training in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in mechanical repair.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in an industrial setting.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance activities and accessing manuals or documentation.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in varying environmental conditions.
