The previous AI description was great but I'd like to add that we area home services company that performs energy audits for Eversource and UI and we also do add-on sales installing insulation, windows, hvac, solar and electrical work. We need someone who can both take care of the books and also help with making the company more profitable by evaluating margins, receivables and jobs costs.

Duties

• Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and compliance with company policies.
• Perform journal entries, general ledger accounting, and double-entry bookkeeping to maintain precise financial records.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic decision-making.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
• Maintain proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to streamline financial operations.
• Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements including tax filings, securities law compliance, and governmental reporting standards.
• Support payroll processing and related tax filings while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects involving corporate finance, private equity transactions, or non-profit accounting initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in technical accounting, financial report writing, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or governmental accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles along with experience in SOX compliance and regulatory reporting standards.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
• Familiarity with technical accounting areas including securities law, wills/trusts & estate law is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and financial statement preparation accurately.
• Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of financial concepts like accrual accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial management.
• Ability to interpret complex financial reports and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
