Field Application Engineer

Ecorobotix
Salinas, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/29/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/27/2026

About the Job

Ecorobotix Inc. creates innovative robotic solutions that reduce the negative ecological impact of modern agriculture. We have developed an AI-based ultra-high precision spot spraying technology that drastically reduces the amount of chemicals used in crop fields while keeping costs competitive. The technology is currently deployed on our tractor-towed ARA machine. By joining our talented and dynamic team, you will contribute to a more sustainable, environment-friendly agriculture in an innovative scale-up at the cutting edge of technology. We are a revolutionary organization with a great work environment that supports creativity through self-motivation.

Overall Purpose of the Role

As a Field Application Engineer, you will own the technical deployment and maturation of Ecorobotix's products across new crops and agricultural markets in the United States. Your mission is to ensure that every new market reaches commercial readiness through rigorous field validation, system optimization, and close collaboration with growers and engineering teams. Working directly with growers, you will conduct advanced field experiments, translate agricultural challenges into engineering improvements, and validate new technologies under real farming conditions. Rather than simply resolving customer issues, you will identify recurring technical limitations, drive product improvements, and accelerate the evolution of Ecorobotix's technology. As the technical bridge between customers and R&D, you will lead investigations into critical field issues, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, and deliver permanent solutions that improve product reliability, scalability, and customer success.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

This role reports directly to the Head of Application Engineering. Internally, close collaboration product management, after-sales, customer success, crop care, and other teams of Ecorobotix Inc is required. • Collect, analyze, and interpret technical field data to support engineering decisions and product improvements
  • Partner with engineering teams to validate corrective actions and long-term solutions

Customer & Engineering Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with growers while maintaining an engineering-focused approach
  • Translate field observations and customer feedback into actionable engineering requirements
  • Support Product Management and R&D with structured, data-driven recommendations

Technical Escalations & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring trends and recommend product, deployment, and process improvements
  • Develop deployment standards, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation to support future launches

Technical Demonstrations

  • Support strategic demonstrations, proof-of-value projects, and early commercial deployments
  • Ensure machines are properly configured and provide technical expertise during customer engagements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Agricultural backgrounds combined with strong technical experience are highly encouraged.
  • Experience troubleshooting robotics, agricultural machinery, autonomous systems, or advanced mechatronic products
  • Strong understanding of software, electronics, mechanics, and agronomic interactions.
  • Experience with AI-enabled products, computer vision, or autonomous machines is highly desirable
  • Experience with Linux, Python/Bash, software log analysis, networking, robotics debugging, or data analysis is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in field environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product management, after-sales, customer success, crop care, sales and other teams of Ecorobotix Inc.

Success in This role

Success in this role will be measured by your ability to:

  • Successfully launch new crops and agricultural markets
  • Improve deployment efficiency through standardized methodologies
  • Drive product improvements through high-quality engineering feedback and technical investigations
  • Increase machine performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop reusable technical knowledge that supports future deployments
