Job Description
Our firm is seeking an Associate Director who will support the efforts of the firm in the following ways:
- Serve as Lead Director for one or more assigned Practice Areas (but be available to assist in or do project management for all Practice Areas), which entails:
- Help track project opportunities, revenue levels, and staff allocation
- Develop subject matter expertise
- Cultivate relevant industry networks
- Participate in business development and proposal writing
- Participate in relevant efforts around knowledge management, research methodologies, data, and IT tools
- Manage a portfolio of projects, responsibilities for each including:
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients (or co-lead with Principal or Director)
- Help set the intellectual direction of the engagement (solo or with Principal/Director support)
- Direct team to complete tasks and fulfill client needs (or co-direct with Principal or Director)
- Manage budget and timeline (solo or with Principal/Director support)
- Collectively manage (with other Directors and Associate Directors) all Senior Analysts, Analysts, and Research Assistants, including:
- Directly supervise one or more staff members, meeting with them regularly to provide support and guidance
- Track and align staff allocations across projects
- Participate in staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and some experience in managing people, projects, and processes
- Strong writing skills, especially as it relates to conveying complex quantitative analyses and policy concepts in simple terms
- Strong communication skills in a variety of channels to a wide range of audiences
- Strong client management skills
- Competence in spreadsheet modeling, cost/benefit analysis, and regression analysis
- Basic working knowledge of R, STATA and/or SAS
- Competence in working with large datasets
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Competence in Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcView GIS, SAS) and in spatial analysis techniques (helpful)
- Ability to thrive in collaborative, project-oriented setting with small groups of professionals
- Bachelor or Master’s level degree and/or current enrollment in doctoral program in any of the following majors: Economics, Government/Public Policy Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics
- Some technical and policy research experience
