Insulator

Position Summary

The Contract Insulator is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation systems on piping, equipment, and structures in a variety of industrial and commercial environments. This role plays a key part in ensuring energy efficiency, system performance, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Contract Insulator measures, cuts, and fits insulation materials to precise specifications, and applies protective coverings as needed. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently in demanding and sometimes repetitive conditions while meeting project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and install insulation materials such as fiberglass, foam, and mineral wool
• Apply insulation to pipes, boilers, ducts, and refrigeration systems
• Remove and replace damaged or outdated insulation
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and safety guidelines
• Secure insulation using adhesives, wire, bands, or tape
• Install vapor barriers and weatherproofing materials
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in insulation or construction work is a plus
• Ability to read technical drawings and take accurate measurements
• Familiarity with insulation materials and installation techniques
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices
  
  

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA Safety Certification
• NCCER Certification in Insulation
• Scaffolding and/or fall protection training
  
  

Work Environment

• Construction sites, industrial plants, refineries, or commercial buildings
• Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise
• Travel may be required depending on job site
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods
• Lift 50 lbs
• Work in elevated or confined spaces
