The Economic Opportunity Program's Energy Services Bureau is seeking a motivated Energy Services Technician to join our Weatherization team.
As an Energy Services Technician, you'll perform hands-on residential construction and energy efficiency improvements that help make homes safer, healthier, and more comfortable. Work includes insulation installation, air sealing, carpentry, window and door replacement, and home energy diagnostics.
Whether your background is in construction, carpentry, remodeling, roofing, insulation, HVAC, or another skilled trade, we provide ongoing training to help you build a rewarding career in energy services.
What You'll Do
- Install dense-pack cellulose insulation in walls and attics.
- Remove and reinstall siding without damage when completing insulation work.
- Install air sealing materials to improve energy efficiency and reduce air leakage.
- Perform residential carpentry, including weatherization-related repairs and installations.
- Install replacement windows and exterior doors.
- Conduct blower door testing before, during, and after work to identify air leakage and verify improvements.
- Safely operate power tools, hand tools, insulation equipment, and diagnostic testing equipment.
- Maintain accurate material inventory and project documentation.
- Follow Weatherization Assistance Program, OSHA, and agency safety requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training to develop technical skills and certifications.
- Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with clients while protecting confidential information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in construction, carpentry, remodeling, roofing, insulation, HVAC, maintenance, or a related trade.
- Working knowledge of residential construction methods and building materials.
- Ability to safely operate power tools and hand tools.
- Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, on ladders, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid New York State driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Insulation installation
- Air sealing
- Residential carpentry
- Window and door installation
- Blower door testing
- Home performance or energy efficiency work
Training is available for candidates with strong construction experience who are eager to learn weatherization techniques.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
