Overview: École Bilingue de la Nouvelle-Orléans is seeking a compassionate, organized,
and mission-driven Dean of Students to support the holistic development and
well-being of our students from early childhood through 8th grade. The Dean of
Students is a key member of the school’s leadership team, responsible for
fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment, promoting
positive student behavior, and partnering closely with faculty, students, and
families to ensure each child thrives socially, emotionally, and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a strong, consistent school culture aligned with EB’s values of bilingualism, global citizenship, empathy, and community.
- Lead the development and implementation of behavior and discipline policies across divisions, focusing on restorative practices and social-emotional learning, and provide teachers training as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student conduct issues, including documentation, follow-up, and communication with families.
- Partner with the school counselor, school nurse, division heads, and faculty to support students’ mental health and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with academic leadership to integrate character education and social-emotional learning across the curriculum.
- Serve as a visible and accessible presence for students throughout the day, including during arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
- Communicate proactively with parents and guardians regarding student well-being, conduct, and school culture.
- Coordinate with external professionals as needed to support student development (e.g., therapists, educational consultants) in collaboration with Student Support Department coordinator.
- Oversee the implementation of school policies related to attendance, discipline, and safety.
- Support the coordination of advisory programs such as student assemblies
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience working with students in a school setting, preferably in leadership or student support roles.
- Experience in an independent, bilingual, or international school setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of and commitment to restorative practices, equity and inclusion, and child development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with children, families, and educators.
- Fluency in French is a plus but not required.
