Position: Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician
Location: Providence, RI
Start Date: Immediate
Status: Full Time
Compensation: $85k-$100k per year
Position Summary:
The Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and related electrical equipment. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of solar assets through preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of solar PV systems
- Diagnose and repair equipment issues, including inverters, modules, combiner boxes, trackers, and balance-of-system components
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize system performance and reliability
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and work orders.
- Utilize electrical testing equipment and monitoring systems to identify and resolve faults
- Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and system performance data
- Maintain safe work practices and comply with all company and regulatory safety requirements
- Assist with site upkeep, vegetation management, and other operational tasks as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or an associate degree in electrical, renewable energy, or related field preferred
- 5 years of experience in solar, electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms, SCADA systems, and OSHA safety standards preferred
- NABCEP certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and safely in outdoor environments
