Maintenance Mechanic Grade 4

Position Description

The purpose of this position is to provide maintenance of plant equipment including mixers, pumps, screw conveyors, motors, bearings, gear boxes, hydraulic systems, and maintenance welding.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the ability to read a dial caliper and dial indicator
• Familiar with all lubricants used in the plant
• Able to determine oil levels for all gearboxes used in the plant.
• Demonstrate practical knowledge of pumps such as, but not limited to, the difference in and use of horizontal, vertical, turbine and lead pumps
• Demonstrate practical knowledge of bearings such as, but not limited to, the difference in and use of flange mount, pillowblock and split bearings.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of the maintenance work order system including searching and correctly choosing equipment numbers and work orders and demonstrate consistent use of it.
• Be able to perform pipefitting such as, but not limited to, cutting pipe to proper length, the proper threading of pipe and the proper use of fittings.
• Operate MC Cart, Fork Lift and Man Lift
• Demonstrate trouble shooting skills in areas such as, but not limited to, bearing failures, bent or broken machine parts and misalignment.
• Other duties as assigned.
  

Pre-hire Requirements

• Possess a valid US Driver’s License
• Able to work any shift
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in industrial environment
• High School Diploma or GED
• Able to perform physical labor
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Have verifiable experience or schooling in the Industrial Mechanical Field
• Score at least 40% on the Mechanical Maintenance Technician test
• Demonstrate the ability and desire to learn the skills necessary for further advancement
• Understand and demonstrate basic electrical safety
• Possess the required tools
• Be able to properly & safely use hand tools
• Demonstrate ability to use basic measuring tools (tape measure, scale, ruler, square, etc.)
• Demonstrate above average accuracy of work in regards to EHS
• 1 year experience as a Mechanic 3

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
