What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Veterinary Technician position at Eclipse Specialty & Emergency Pet Care?
Who We Are: At Eclipse Specialty & Emergency Pet Care, we’re more than just a hospital—we’re a community where your skills and passion for veterinary medicine are truly valued. Located in Whippany, NJ, our employee-owned facility offers cutting-edge care and a supportive environment where your growth and well-being are prioritized. We believe in truly human leadership, empowering our team to provide exceptional care to pets and their owners.
Why Join Us?
Surgery draws a particular kind of technician — one who thrives under pressure, who finds purpose in precision, and who wants to be at the center of some of the most consequential moments in a patient's care. If the operating room is where you do your best work, Eclipse is where you belong.
Our Surgery Veterinary Technicians work across the full spectrum of surgical medicine — from scheduled soft tissue and orthopedic procedures to laparoscopic surgeries and urgent emergency cases that require composure and skill when the stakes are highest. With four board-certified surgeons on our team, the variety of cases and techniques you'll be exposed to is genuinely rare for a single hospital.
What makes this role stand out is the depth of mentorship available to you. You'll work closely with our surgeons, building a sophisticated understanding of surgical medicine and technique. At the same time, anesthesia monitoring is a core part of what you'll do every day — and the opportunity to grow in that discipline here is exceptional. You'll develop your anesthetic knowledge working alongside highly trained and experienced technicians as well as our anesthesiologists directly, giving you a level of clinical fluency in both disciplines that most surgery techs never get the chance to build.
Every case that comes through our surgical suite — whether it's a planned procedure or an emergency that couldn't wait — represents an animal whose family is counting on this team to get it right. You'll be an essential part of making that happen, from the moment a patient is prepped to the moment they're stable and on their way to recovery.
