- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions across various specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and behavioral health.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, and perform procedures like suturing, catheterization, spinal taps, and dermal fillers with precision and adherence to sterile techniques.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and billing information.
- Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, nutrition, and health coaching to promote wellness and preventive care.
- Collaborate with specialists in areas like gastroenterology, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, occupational health, and post-acute care to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects to advance evidence-based practices and improve patient outcomes.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience performing procedures including suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care, tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and airway management.
- Skilled in managing acute pain with appropriate interventions or utilizing telehealth platforms for remote consultations.
- Familiarity with CPT coding procedures for billing purposes; understanding ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards.
- Background in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine (including ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience), emergency room settings (Level II trauma center experience), outpatient clinics or urgent care centers.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages—including children (pediatrics), toddlers (toddler care), neonatal ventilator management—and those with disabilities or dementia requiring specialized memory or Alzheimer’s/dementia care.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and infection prevention strategies; experience with laboratory specimen collection/processing is a plus.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with critical thinking to develop tailored treatment plans; experience in case management or discharge planning is advantageous.
