Lead the administration and operational health of enterprise database platforms to ensure availability, performance, security, and recoverability. Establish standards, automate repeatable work, and serve as the escalation point for complex database issues.
Position Responsibilities:
- Own database availability and reliability; monitor health, capacity, and trends; lead incident response and problem management for database services.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot complex stored procedures.
- Design and maintain backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery capabilities; perform and document recovery testing to meet RPO/RTO targets.
- Drive performance engineering (query, indexing, configuration, and resource tuning) and partner with application teams to resolve cross-stack issues.
- Implement security controls (least privilege, encryption, auditing, patching) and support compliance evidence and remediation activities.
- Plan and execute database changes (maintenance, upgrades, migrations) using standard change procedures, testing, and rollback plans.
- Develop and maintain SOPs/runbooks; automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and reporting to reduce manual effort and risk.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to DBAs/engineers; contribute to design reviews and platform roadmaps.
