Position Overview:
- Seeking a detail-oriented IT Systems Analyst & Automation Specialist to design, develop, support, and continuously improve business systems and workflow automations.
- This position serves as the primary technical resource for Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Lists, and related Power Platform solutions used to support internal business processes.
- The successful consultant will work directly with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements, translate manual processes into supportable technical solutions, and maintain reliable automations from initial design through testing, production deployment, documentation, monitoring, and ongoing support.
- Partner with internal departments to document current processes, identify requirements, define future-state workflows, and prioritize automation opportunities.
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Power Automate cloud flows supporting request intake, data collection, approvals, notifications, task routing, reminders, escalations, and record updates.
- Create and maintain Microsoft Forms, SharePoint Online sites, lists, libraries, views, columns, content structures, and permissions that support automated business processes.
- Develop clear and supportable approval workflows, including status tracking, department-based routing, requester and approver notifications, timeout handling, exception paths, and audit history.
- Establish workflow development standards for naming, connections, ownership, service accounts, variables, comments, error handling, logging, notifications, testing, and production release.
- Monitor production automations, investigate failed flow runs, perform root cause analysis, correct defects, and communicate service impacts and resolutions to stakeholders.
- Maintain a controlled inventory of forms, flows, SharePoint lists, owners, connections, dependencies, environments, and support contacts.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, process maps, solution designs, test scripts, support procedures, change records, and end-user instructions.
- Conduct peer reviews and functional testing before production deployment; coordinate user acceptance testing with process owners and verify that business requirements are met.
- Support migration of individually owned automations to approved shared, service, or enterprise ownership models to reduce operational risk and improve continuity.
- Use PowerShell, SQL, APIs, expressions, and approved connectors when needed to extend automation capabilities, integrate systems, or simplify complex workflow logic.
- Support Power Apps, Power BI, Power Query, and other Microsoft 365 solutions when they are part of an approved business process or automation project.
- Coordinate with internal IT staff, vendors, application owners, and business stakeholders on integrations involving Microsoft 365, Deltek Costpoint, ticketing, reporting, shared mailboxes, and other business systems.
- Provide advanced technical support and knowledge transfer for automation solutions, SharePoint configurations, and related business applications.
- Prepare project updates, solution health reports, risk summaries, and recommendations for leadership and business process owners.
- Follow IT change management, least-privilege access, data retention, documentation, and cybersecurity requirements when designing or modifying solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Professional experience analyzing business processes and translating requirements into technical workflows or system solutions.
- Hands-on experience building and supporting Microsoft Power Automate workflows.
- Hands-on experience configuring SharePoint Online lists, libraries, columns, views, permissions, and supporting structures.
- Experience with Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Lists.
- Working knowledge of workflow design concepts including approvals, conditions, loops, variables, expressions, connectors, error handling, logging, and notifications.
- Ability to test solutions methodically, troubleshoot failed automations, perform root cause analysis, and document corrective actions.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, process maps, user instructions, and support procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and production support priorities while delivering accurate, supportable work.
- Ability to explain technical solutions, limitations, risks, and decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Power Apps, Power BI, Power Query, Dataverse, Teams approvals, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience using PowerShell, SQL, REST APIs, JSON, HTML, or adaptive card / markdown formatting in workflow solutions.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, ERP systems, reporting tools, shared mailbox automation, or ticketing integrations.
- Experience managing Power Platform environments, solutions, connection references, service accounts, data loss prevention policies, or application lifecycle practices.
- Experience supporting workflow automation within manufacturing, ship repair, government contracting, or another regulated environment.
- Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Business Analysis, or Project Management Certifications.
