Required Qualifications:
- Recent experience in the Fire Alarm industry, and in-depth knowledge of and experience in programming, service, and repair of Fire Detection and Suppression systems including sprinkler (wet and dry), pre-action and deluge systems, standpipe, fire pumps, and chemical suppression systems, Security, CCTV, Card Access systems, and Proprietary Central Alarm Receiving Stations.
- In-depth knowledge of, experience with and application of various codes and standards, including but not limited to NFPA13, 14, 20, 25, 70, 72, Life Safety 101, NC Dept. of Insurance requirements for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, NC Dept. of Insurance requirements for Fire Sprinkler Systems, and ADA requirements.
- Problem Solving:
- Ability to identify (and may require ability to resolve or make recommendations for) non-standard/more complex problems with electronic devices, electronic subsystems and systems through inspection and maintenance, or after system/equipment installation/failure.
- Ability to troubleshoot and evaluate options and choose appropriate action by considering potential outcomes.
- Ability to operate specialized test equipment to troubleshoot and repair non-standard electronic devices and systems.
- Ability to research electronic literature to modify, build, or interface electronic devices.
- Responds promptly with the proper tools, diagnostic and programming equipment, and applicable system documentation, and properly diagnoses and corrects system problems utilizing laptop computers when required for diagnostics and history interrogation, equipment operating system evaluation, and system database evaluation, or electronic test and diagnostic equipment to isolate the defective component within the board or module preventing re-occurring system failures and/or problems.
- When system database and/or system operating program changes are required for problem resolution, the Life Safety/Electronic Shop - Lead Technician shall review and approve the changes prior to downloading.
