Project Overview:
- The Contingent Worker will support the AIS program by engaging stakeholders, coordinating with state and federal resource managers, developing and delivering public education and outreach initiatives, and assisting with biological field sampling.
Responsibilities:
- Review and provide feedback on all assigned documents/submittals.
- Draft internal policies and procedures for Canals/client related to job tasks, as assigned.
- Represent Canals/client at internal and external stakeholder meetings.
- Attend meetings and supply input as Canals/client.
- Perform scheduled site visits to active projects. Follow up on applicable action items.
- Schedule meetings with external and internal stakeholders as needed per project or assignment demands.
- Assist in developing and delivering public education initiatives on invasive species.
- Coordinate site visits and work permit applications for external stakeholders.
- Plan and execute field sampling activities, including invasive species monitoring, eDNA collection, and water sampling.
- Provide coverage for absences and vacations of existing AIS program staff.
- Support other AIS program functions as needed to ensure the program's robustness and responsiveness.
- Work with Canal/client EHS reps to become familiar with their areas and assist as needed to cover emergent work and any extended leaves for EHS reps.
- Work with Corporate EHS to ensure processes are followed and initiatives are adopted.
- Above will require some regional and state travel.
- Demonstrated ability to speak in front of large audiences,
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint, is required
- GIS
- Excellent written and public speaking skills required.
- Adept at communicating scientific information to diverse audiences, including the public
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with managers, operations staff, and external stakeholders.
- Should have experience in conducting biological field sampling (animal/plant surveys, water testing, etc.), coordinating fieldwork, and/or managing aquatic invasive species.
- Experience with data analysis is beneficial but not required
