Job Summary:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an Activity Program to meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of individuals using a person-centered approach. This role oversees daily department activities, ensures information is communicated effectively, and supports various facility events and compliance needs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and implement an Activity Program that includes in-home activities, external outings, and special events.
- Foster a positive environment empowering individuals to build relationships and achieve their goals.
- Develop and distribute activity-related information, including calendars and newsletters.
- Manage and supervise activity department staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Complete and submit necessary documentation and reports for activities and individual programming.
- Represent the activities department in individual assessments and programming meetings.
- Coordinate transportation for individuals to activities and events.
- Assist with the direct personal care of individuals served as needed.
- Assist with compliance, regulatory audits, and safety for individuals and staff.
- Perform other duties as necessary, including participating in committees and special projects.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy or related field preferred.
- Experience in the Developmental Disability field or related field preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to work professionally with IDD individuals and assist with direct care needs.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated Christian background and ability to fulfill the ministry's mission.
Work Conditions:
- Work in various internal and external environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
- Varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays; occasional long hours and overtime required.
- Occasional overnight trips and travel around the state.
