What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Runner/Service Assistant position at Echelon Kitchen and Bar?
Echelon Kitchen and Bar is looking to hire support team members to work as food runners and service assistants. Our mission is to set a new culinary & hospitality standard in the downtown area. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team and help us deliver an extraordinary dining experience.
The key responsibility of a Service Assistant is to diligently assist and support our Serving Team. This includes clearing, cleaning, and setting tables, ensuring that the restaurant supplies and equipment are clean and maintained, helping to deliver food to Guests, and assisting Guests with requests or complaints. The Service Assistant Team is also responsible for assisting Servers as needed to enhance our Guest experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promptly and warmly greet Guests in the dining room
- Assisting Guests with queries, and requests, and redirecting as necessary.
- Serving food and refilling beverages as required.
- Assisting with the cleaning and processing of dirty dishes and silverware.
- Ensuring that the menus, crockery, and cutlery are cleaned and replenished between tables.
- Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course
- Managing the inventory of napkins, straws, salt, pepper, and other table condiments and supplies.
- Reporting any damages, shortages, and complaints to the manager.
- Expert on executing our steps of service. Able to communicate with servers to efficiently keep their whole section on pace with their needs.
- Moving tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate Guests as needed.
- Tidying the restaurant after service and ensuring that it is prepped for the following service.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests.
- Communicates directly with the Front of House and Heart of House Team to ensure that orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
- Exhibits exceptional communication skills and demonstrates the ability to get along well with others. Remains flexible and patient when communicating with Guests and fellow Team Members.
- Promotes a clean, safe, and neat environment for Guests.
- Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding shared company information.
- Promptly addresses complaints or issues; relays relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor.
- Ensures that the dining room is properly set up before and after the service period; keeps the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards.
- Operates a variety of equipment, including telephones, water dispensers, and coffee machines.
- Works with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
- Assist in opening and closing duties as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - 1 years of experience in Hospitality or Customer Service preferred, but not required
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift
- Able to work well under pressure during times of high-volume service
- Neat and organized on the restaurant floor during service
- Shows consistent work habits and a great work ethic
- Possess the ability to multitask and problem solve
- Able to speak properly and communicate to Guests in a professional manner
- Proactive and enthusiastic team player working well with others
- Positive personality and a professional attitude
