Tax Strategy Associate | Chicago (Hybrid)
A long-established, multi-generational private family office in downtown Chicago is seeking a Tax Strategy Associate to support senior leadership in delivering integrated tax, estate, and wealth planning for an ultra-high-net-worth family.
This role is well-suited for a Tax Senior or Supervisor coming out of public accounting who enjoys complex planning and client problem-solving, but wants to move beyond compliance work and recurring busy seasons. You will partner closely with senior advisors and gain exposure to the full financial picture, including investments, trusts, estate planning, and family governance.
The position offers hands-on involvement with advanced tax planning strategies, sophisticated entity structures, and multi-generational wealth considerations in a collaborative, intellectually rigorous environment. Based in Chicago with a flexible hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate tax planning and compliance with external CPA firms and tax advisors
• Assist with complex tax-driven planning, including entity structuring and gift strategies
• Prepare and track charitable and personal gifts of stock and cash
• Support wealth planning by modeling cash flow, estate, and tax planning scenarios
• Review, summarize, and analyze trust, partnership, and entity agreements
• Work closely with internal teams and external advisors, including attorneys, banks, and investment managers
• Handle transactions, account openings, and related client documentation with discretion and accuracy
• Research and resolve client matters involving taxes, banking, insurance, and household financial needs
Qualifications and Experience
• 3 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on individual, trust, or entity taxation
• Tax Seniors strongly encouraged to apply
• Interest in expanding into wealth planning, trusts, investments, and estate planning. Training provided
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working directly with sophisticated clients and advisors
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with eMoney or CRM tools a plus
