About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Front End Developer to modernize and enhance our web application platform.
This role will focus on transforming our existing read-only web application into a modern, performant, and
visually compelling user experience using cutting-edge AWS and React technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the modernization effort of our existing web application, implementing contemporary UI/UX patterns and responsive design principles
• Design and develop highly performant, scalable React-based front-end applications
• Architect and implement infrastructure using AWS CDK for repeatable, version-controlled deployments
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS Amplify for streamlined development workflows
• Integrate front-end applications with AWS AppSync for real-time data synchronization and GraphQL APIs
• Collaborate with the platform architect, other developers, and stakeholders to translate design concepts into functional, elegant user interfaces
• Optimize application performance, focusing on load times, rendering efficiency, and user experience metrics
• Implement modern UI design patterns including responsive layouts, accessibility standards (WCAG), and progressive enhancement
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code with comprehensive testing coverage
• Participate in architectural decisions and technical planning sessions

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of professional front-end development experience
• Strong proficiency in React (including Hooks, Context API, and modern React patterns)
• Demonstrated experience modernizing or migrating legacy web applications to modern frameworks
• Hands-on experience with AWS Amplify for hosting, CI/CD, and front-end workflows
• Solid understanding of AWS CDK (TypeScript or Python) for infrastructure as code
• Experience integrating with AWS AppSync and GraphQL APIs
• Strong knowledge of modern CSS methodologies (CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules, Tailwind, or similar)
• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6 )
• Understanding of responsive design, mobile-friendly development, and cross-browser compatibility
• Experience with component libraries and design systems
• Familiarity with Git workflows and collaborative development practices
• Portfolio demonstrating modern UI design implementations and application modernization projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with other AWS services (Lambda, S3, CloudFront, Cognito)
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques (code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies)
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
• Experience/Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD)
• Background in UI/UX design principles and user-centered design
• Experience using AI tools integrated with IDEs.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 1-3 months, you will have:

• Successfully delivered a modernized version of key application features with improved user experience
• Established reusable component libraries and design patterns
• Implemented automated deployment pipelines reducing deployment time
• Improved application performance metrics (load time, time to interactive, etc.)
• Created comprehensive documentation for the modernization approach

• AWS Services: Amplify, AppSync, CDK, DocumentDB, and Cognito
• Development Tools: Git, npm/yarn, VS Code, Chrome DevTools
• APIs: GraphQL (AppSync), REST APIs
• CI/CD: AWS Amplify Console, GitHub Actions
