Senior Accountant
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes while contributing to core accounting functions and month-end close. This role provides insight into financial performance, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps enhance reporting and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support budgeting and financial planning processes; monitor performance against budget
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare and review account reconciliations
- Manage sales tax processes, including journal entries and filings (Avalara experience preferred)
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and related accounting
- Perform lease accounting under ASC 842
- Support vehicle fleet accounting, including reporting and journal entries
- Analyze expenses versus budget and provide insights
- Develop and maintain financial reports and assist with report creation
- Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and management reports
- Support audit processes and year-end activities
- Cross-train and assist with other accounting functions as needed
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
- 3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Flexible and able to work additional hours as needed
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
