Controller

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and manage a team to deliver high-quality financial reporting and advisory services, primarily supporting a portfolio of clients in a service-based environment. This role acts as both a people leader and strategic partner, overseeing day-to-day accounting activities while providing insights that drive financial clarity and organizational impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial services
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Review and analyze financial statements to assess performance and ensure accuracy and audit readiness
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for clients
- Serve as a strategic advisor, presenting financial insights to leadership and key stakeholders
- Manage multiple client relationships, ensuring high service levels and long-term satisfaction
- Maintain and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting standards
- Support audit and tax processes, including coordination with external partners
- Monitor team performance, KPIs, and deadlines, and proactively address gaps
- Drive process improvements, scalability, and operational efficiency within the accounting function
- Participate in onboarding new clients and integrating accounting processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting or public accounting experience
- 2 years of team leadership or management experience preferred
- CPA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Experience in client-facing, service-based, or nonprofit environments preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
