- Assist clients with Medicaid eligibility verification, enrollment, and renewal processes to ensure seamless access to healthcare benefits
- Review and accurately process medical records, billing information, and documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Apply CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding standards for medical billing and claims submissions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and case managers to coordinate discharge planning and treatment services for patients with mental health or behavioral health conditions
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all data entry and client communication activities
- Conduct intake assessments for new clients, especially individuals with co-occurring disorders or from underserved communities
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries related to Medicaid coverage, medical terminology, and healthcare support options
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in hospital settings or acute care environments with familiarity in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical terminology
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid regulations, health insurance policies, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) systems
- Background in social work or behavioral health services is highly desirable, particularly experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or co-occurring disorders
- Excellent data entry skills combined with attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes
- Bilingual abilities are preferred to effectively communicate with diverse client populations
