Position Summary
The Working Janitorial Floor Care Supervisor oversees all floor-care operations within the hospital, ensuring that all patient care areas, public areas, and support spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and infection-control compliance. This role supervises floor technicians, coordinates schedules, trains staff, monitors quality standards, and ensures adherence to hospital policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities Floor Care Operations

  • Supervise and perform specialized floor care tasks, including stripping, waxing, sealing, burnishing, buffing, scrubbing, and carpet cleaning (extraction/bonnet).
  • Inspect hard floors and specialty surfaces daily to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance.
  • Identify flooring hazards and implement corrective action to reduce risk of injury.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of floor-care equipment such as auto-scrubbers, buffers, extractors, and propane burnishers (if applicable).

Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, train, and evaluate floor technicians on hospital cleaning procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation.
  • Develop staff schedules, assign work orders, and ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to maintain a high-performing floor care team.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with hospital infection prevention protocols, Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations, and EVS guidelines.
  • Maintain proper storage, labeling, and use of chemicals in accordance with SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Oversee waste management and ensure safe handling of biohazard and contaminated areas during floor care tasks.

Quality Assurance

  • Perform routine inspections and document results to maintain quality metrics.
  • Respond promptly to service requests for spills, stains, or high-risk contamination cleanup.
  • Collaborate with EVS management, nursing units, and facility leadership to ensure exceptional service satisfaction.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain inventory of supplies, floor finishes, chemicals, and equipment parts.
  • Track floor maintenance schedules, project logs, and compliance records.
  • Prepare reports on team productivity, project completion, and quality control outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in floor care, preferably in a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control standards related to floor maintenance.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff with diverse skill levels.
  • Proficiency with commercial floor-care equipment and chemical-use procedures.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on feet for extended periods, kneel, bend, squat, walk, stand, and be able to push 50 pounds

Additional Requirements (Per Contract / Facility Standards)

  • Must be an American citizen or a permanent resident for 3 years or longer.
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based background check.
  • Must be able to commute to both Montgomery, AL and Tuskegee, AL as needed.
  • Be able to speak, read, and write English

  • CHHE Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Executive
  • CPH Certified Professional Housekeeper

Work Environment

  • Hospital setting
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, biohazards, and infectious materials (PPE provided).
  • Work Schedule: Sundays- Thursdays 9:30PM-5:30AM EST

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $17.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
