Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a friendly and energetic attitude, ensuring they feel immediately at ease
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, and relay orders efficiently to the kitchen
- Provide detailed menu descriptions, recommend specials, and upsell items to enhance the guest experience
- Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation and sanitation
- Manage guest relations by addressing questions, special requests, or concerns with professionalism and positivity
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties, while ensuring proper food safety and sanitation procedures are followed
- Assist with bussing tables, resetting for new guests, and supporting kitchen staff when needed to maintain smooth operations
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, especially in Japanese or fine dining settings
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, or OpenTable for order processing and sales tracking
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and professionally
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tables efficiently during busy hours
- Knowledge of food handling, sanitation standards, and safety protocols within the food industry
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently to increase sales opportunities
- Previous host/hostess or serving experience in nightlife or upscale dining venues is a plus
- Basic math skills for cash handling and billing accuracy
- Culinary or kitchen experience is advantageous for understanding food preparation processes
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
