What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Culinary Assistant position at Ebenezer?
This position is responsible for dining room meal service to residents.
Responsibilities
- Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
- Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
- Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs
- Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
- Helps lead shift huddles for each meal.
- Outlines and delegates daily cleaning and production tasks for the Culinary Assistants as needed.
- Creates dining room cleaning schedules and procedures and ensures their completion.
- Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
- Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
- Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
- Accommodates tenant/resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
- Listens to complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Culinary Director as appropriate.
- Provides support and direction to Culinary Assistants:
- Oversees proper procedures for dining room set-up for daily meals and special events.
- Checks the daily task sheets for completion. Refers any incomplete tasks to the Chef/Culinary Director.
- Schedules Culinary Assistants
- Identify Culinary Assistant performance issues and communicates them to Culinary Director
- Trains new staff on proper procedures.
- Assists in completing the onboarding and orientation checklists for newly hired Culinary Assistants.
- Listens to complaints and respond appropriately. Refers issues to Culinary Director and Executive Director as appropriate.
