Position Summary
Ebenezer Medical Outreach is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP/APRN) to provide comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services in a clinic serving uninsured and underinsured patients. This role focuses on disease prevention, early intervention, and management of acute and chronic conditions while building meaningful relationships with patients and empowering them to make lasting health improvements.
The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in lifestyle medicine approaches, including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and behavior change strategies that help prevent and manage chronic disease.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling during clinic hours.
Compensation
Approximately $50 per hour, based on experience.
Supervision and Clinical Collaboration
The Family Nurse Practitioner is administratively supervised by the Executive Director. Clinical collaboration for prescriptive practice is provided by the Medical Director in accordance with West Virginia Board of Registered Nurses requirements and applicable state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary care services to patients across the lifespan within the APRN scope of practice.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic health conditions.
- Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with West Virginia regulations.
- Develop and document individualized care plans.
- Promote preventive care, patient education, and counseling, including lifestyle modification strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments, including health maintenance screenings and risk evaluations.
- Identify behavioral and environmental factors impacting health and provide appropriate guidance.
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in provider meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and clinic program development.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current West Virginia APRN license with prescriptive authority (or eligibility).
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) (ANCC or AANP).
- Current West Virginia RN license.
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
- Clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform clinical assessments, diagnostic reasoning, and patient education effectively.
- Comfortable using electronic health record systems and standard office software.
