What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gardener/Horticulture Tech. (Leadership Track) position at Ebb & Bloom llc?
Work with plants. Build real skills. Grow into leadership.
We are a growing, quality-focused gardening and landscape maintenance company seeking a skilled gardener with horticulture experience to join our small field team serving residential properties.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in plant care, and wants to grow into more responsibility over time. You’ll start by working directly with the owner on some days and alongside a team lead on others while learning our systems and properties.
For the right person, this role may grow into a Lead Gardener position, but our priority is finding someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong cultural fit for the team.
What You’ll Do
- Perform hands-on gardening work including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and seasonal maintenance
- Apply horticultural knowledge to support plant health and proper garden care
- Work alongside the owner and team lead across multiple residential garden properties
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
- Assist with workflow, tool care, and daily site setup
- Identify plant health concerns and communicate potential solutions
- Support efficient, high-quality work across job sites
- As experience grows, take on increasing responsibility supporting crew coordination and workflow
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of gardening, landscaping, or horticulture experience
- Basic plant identification and plant care knowledge
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a small team
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take feedback
- Interest in developing leadership skills over time
- Someone who takes initiative and naturally notices what needs to be done without constant direction
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Leadership experience is not required, but initiative, accountability, and strong communication skills are highly valued.
The Reality of This Job
This is active, physical outdoor work. A typical day involves bending, kneeling, lifting, digging, and working outside in a variety of weather conditions.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in detailed garden work, not someone simply looking for a temporary job.
If you enjoy working with plants, staying active, and seeing the results of your work at the end of the day, this role can be extremely rewarding.
Pay & Growth
$19–$23/hour depending on experience and horticultural knowledge.
Raises and increased responsibility are tied to performance, reliability, and skill development.
This role may grow into a Lead Gardener position as the season progresses, but leadership opportunities will depend on performance, team fit, and company needs.
30-Day Working Trial
All new hires begin with a 30-day probationary period. This allows both you and the company to ensure the role is a good fit before continuing for the remainder of the season.
Schedule
Full-time weekday schedule
On-the-road position working at multiple residential client properties
Seasonal Structure
This is a seasonal full-time position running approximately March through October, with some flexibility depending on weather and workload.
We are especially interested in team members who would like to return season after season and grow with the company long-term.
Why Work With Us
We are intentionally building a small, skilled team that values quality, communication, and pride in our work.
We prioritize:
- Quality over speed
- Clear expectations and communication
- A respectful, supportive work environment
- Long-term relationships with both our clients and our team
This is a small team environment where attention to detail matters more than rushing through jobs.
A perfect resume isn’t required — reliability, mindset, and work ethic matter most.
