Semiconductor Equipment Field Support Specialist

Ebara Technologies - USA
Boise, ID Other
POSTED ON 4/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/6/2026
About the Role

Working under general supervision, you will be the on-site expert customers count on to install, commission, maintain, and repair our semiconductor tools and supporting systems. Your scope spans hardware, software, and systems networking—keeping complex equipment online and productive.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing overnight logs, triaging any unscheduled maintenance, and planning contracted preventive maintenance. At a customer site, you interpret operation manuals to pinpoint root causes, then carry out the most cost-effective repair to reduce downtime. You document work performed, parts usage, and time, and prepare reports to justify on-site service and equipment moves. Between calls, you mentor junior field service associates, advise peers, and support the service center as needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Execute on-site and service-center work: contracted PMs, emergency/unscheduled maintenance, consumable swaps, installations, and start-ups.
  • Use operation manuals, checklists, and protocols to diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Deliver fast, cost-effective repairs to minimize tool downtime; act as the primary technical contact for customers.
  • Document PM activity, downtime, issues, and labor; prepare reports for product moves and service justification.
  • Operate comfortably within customer systems and tools to record, track, and close service events.
  • Independently perform preventive maintenance; identify and order/expedite required replacement parts and notify stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support on tool operation and maintenance; communicate clearly on service-related problems.
  • Guide other field technicians and field service engineers; train and mentor Field Service Associates I–III.
  • Assist with service center operations and support other customer sites when needed (non-essential duty).
  • Complete required Finesse training for proper parts handling, usage tracking, and transactions.
  • Comply with EBARA’s safety policies, including completion of all required safety training; maintain a clean, safe work environment compliant with Ebara and customer safety policies.
Education
  • Associate of Science in Electronics, completion of an accredited basic electronics program, or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Preferred: 6–10 years related experience, ideally in semiconductor, manufacturing, or adjacent industries.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical practices and of semiconductor and/or vacuum technology principles.
  • Demonstrated strength in customer relations and communication.
