What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Fiber Engineering position at Eaton Fiber?
Eaton Fiber is building a 100% fiber network to support the next generation of broadband services. We have an incredible opportunity for the Director of Engineering, who will report directly to the Chief Network Officer.
Requirements and Responsibilities • Oversee the execution of all Engineering management activities to ensure effectiveness of end-to-end delivery in terms of timelines, budgets, and quality of build. • Responsible for managing and ensuring all internal/external market Engineering teams deliver production commitments. • Assign resources, managing coordinating subcontractor activities in accordance with project/client procedures, scope of work, and contract specifications. • Develop resource plans, evaluate capacity needs against delivery goals, and plan delivery timelines based on resources. • Develop plan to secure all permits and pole attachments working closely with contractors, designers, pole owners and federal, state, and local agencies. • Ensure the team fully understands project scope details, identify, and anticipate potential risks and unknowns in meeting delivery commitments (timeline, budget and/or quality), and prepare and implement mitigation plans in partnership with key stakeholders. • Exhibit financial acumen in the planning and administration of annual capital budgets. • Partner with the Supply Chain department to develop a strategic sourcing approach and effectively manage the entire material procurement lifecycle, including forecasting, ordering, merchandise returns, etc. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all construction and design standards. • Ensure standard invoicing/approval processes are followed and in place for all projects and as-builts are submitted accurately and timely. • Establish and direct quality control programs for construction that are consistent with corporate construction/design standards in the markets. • Ensure adherence to company safety standards.
What we are looking for: • Education: BA, relevant engineering field is required. • 10 or more years Fiber engineering experience required • Strong project management experience
Preferred Technical experience in the following: IP/data networking, Transport networks, PON architecture, FTTP/FTTH design and operations, fiber design and provisioning, circuit and equipment inventory records, lifecycle management, process design.
Other required skills: presentation skills, analytics,problem solving, stakeholder management, collaboration, strong execution experience.
