IT Foundation Data Lead

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a IT Foundation Data Lead. The position will be based at any Eaton facility in the United States. The role is eligible for a hybrid work setup (3 days in office, 2 days remote). The expected annual salary range for this role is $146000 - $215000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. ## What you’ll do: The IT Foundation Data Governance Lead position is people leader - responsible for establishing and leading the enterprise IT data strategy, governance framework, and model for enterprise IT operational data across CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping, Observability, and AIOps consisting of enterprise IT applications critical for Eaton operations. This leader ensures the organization maintains a trusted, service-aware, and AI-ready operational IT data foundation that enables predictive operations, improved service reliability, faster decision-making, and enhanced business visibility across infrastructure. These data sets are important for success of AI use cases across Eaton The role drives data ownership, governance standards, data reconciliation, quality improvement initiatives, and adoption of operational data practices that support Business Applications, discovery, servers, cloud, observability, and service-centric operations via partnering across IT product and Application teams, corp functions. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership • Define and execute the enterprise IT Data Governance strategy and roadmap. • Establish a unified operational data vision across CMDB, CSDM, ITOM, and Observability platforms. • Align governance initiatives with enterprise digital transformation and operational excellence objectives. • Develop executive scorecards demonstrating business value, service reliability improvements, and governance maturity. Governance & Operating Model • Establish governance policies, standards, controls, and accountability frameworks. • Lead enterprise IT Data Governance Councils and Service Reliability Reviews. • Define and maintain data ownership and stewardship models. • Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and audit requirements. CMDB & Service Data Governance • Own governance of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Common Service Data Model (CSDM). • Drive CI lifecycle governance, reconciliation across platforms, certification, and ownership accountability. • Establish enterprise standards for service hierarchy and service relationships. • Improve integrity and quality of business application and service data. Discovery & Service Mapping • Oversee Discovery data quality and reconciliation practices. • Ensure service maps accurately represent business services and technology dependencies. • Establish standards for dependency mapping and service-model accuracy. • Improve service visibility and impact analysis capabilities across IT. Observability & Predictive Operations • Establish governance standards for monitoring, telemetry, and observability data. • Partner with platform teams to improve service health visibility and correlation accuracy. • Enable predictive operations through trusted service and infrastructure relationships. • Support AIOps initiatives through strong operational data foundations. Federated Leadership • Facilitate and coordinate a federated IT foundation data Governance practice for 300 application across value Chains, platforms, and products. • Drive alignment between IT Foundation, Enterprise Architecture, Service Management, Observability, and Digital Operations teams. • Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups to establish enterprise-wide IT foundational data Governance and data standards. • Foster accountability and stewardship within a federated operating model. ## Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. * Minimum 10 years in IT with experience in multiple technology platforms. * Minimum 5 years experience in enterprise IT data, CMDB (common service data model), Service Management, or Operational Data function * Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering from an accredited institution * Experience in leading people in direct and functional reports Technical knowledge * Experience with ServiceNow CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping, and ITOM capabilities or Observability data * Strong understanding of ITIL, Configuration Management, Service Mapping, and Service Governance * Experience enabling service-centric observability through integration of CMDB, Service Mapping, Event Management, and monitoring platform * Experience building trusted operational data foundations that support AIOps, predictive analytics, incident prevention, and service reliability initiatives. ## Skills: Soft skills • Excellent proficiency with the English language (written and verbal). Additional language capabilities are a plus. • Leads technically without formal authority; earns influence through collaboration and transparency across leadership • Communicates trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives. • Coaches engineers with patience and directness; grows the pod as they build the product.
