What You'll Be Doing
The Milieu Therapist is a licensed therapist who facilitates skills groups and psychotherapy groups based on core curriculum, provides meal monitoring and meal support, and offers milieu support, de-escalation and behavior coaching to patients in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care.

What You'll Be Doing
The Milieu Therapist is a licensed therapist who facilitates skills groups and psychotherapy groups based on core curriculum, provides meal monitoring and meal support, and offers milieu support, de-escalation and behavior coaching to patients in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Facilitates curriculum-based groups
- Provides meal monitoring and support.
- Documentation of groups, meals and patient check-ins and observations 15%
- Provides support to Milieu including the following:
- De-escalation and crisis management
- Bathroom monitoring and support for eating disorder patients
- Monitoring outside breaks
- Conducts self-harm and suicide assessment
- Support morning routine in IP/Res programs
- Collects and reports weights, vitals and urine in some settings
- Implements individual behavior management plans for some patients and serves as clinical lead for the program in standalone programs in evenings and weekends. Will lead some psychotherapy groups.
- Coverage for Primary Therapists (for individual, family and group therapies as well as for patient assessments) with support from Clinical Manager or Clinical Director
- Graduate degree in mental health or related degree program- required
- Bachelors degree- required
- Intern or associate license from appropriate state licensing board- required
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic principles and techniques- required
- Ability to manage group dynamics effectively Proficient in keeping timely, detailed and accurate records- required
- Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations effectively- required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Required
- 1 year facilitating group-based treatment interventions- preferred
- 1 year providing crisis management support and interventions- preferred
- 1 year performing safety assessments and implementing safety management plans to patients in treatment at higher levels of care- preferred
