The Lead Host is considered the senior host who greets guests and ensures an impactful and memorable restaurant experience from start to finish. The Maître D reports to the Restaurant Manager.
- Greets guests as they arrive at the restaurant; gathers any pertinent information; delivers guests to the front of house team
- Oversees the seating of and menu presentation to all guests, ensuring high-quality service
- Supports the management team by providing training of all new hosts
- Takes reservations over the telephone, through emails, and in person; records all reservations properly in the system
- Manages and maximizes the reservation book
- Answers guests’ questions
- Creates and communicates daily floor plans
- Highlights problem areas with hosts or seating flow and develops solutions
- Demonstrates a positive, smiling, empowering, and motivational attitude
- Delegates effectively with a sense of professionalism
- Oversees the cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant entrance
- Ensures all supplies required to keep the front end of the restaurant running are always available
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a high-volume restaurant
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
